I am now a Secretary!

Monday, May 29, 2006

Notice the capital "S" for secretary. Things went well at the meeting the other week. I'd call it more of a one ring circus. I got the secretary position so I am happy. Now I just have to brush up on my minute taking skills before the official takeover of the new PAC.

Thought I would post a picture tonight. My kids kept picking all the daffodils this spring and I took a few shots of them that I finally got downloaded (or is it uploading?) from my camera. So here's the best one. I am so lucky my little ones are always thinking of me when they see the beauty of nature. **Sigh... Now the daff's are long over and the yellow tigerlilies out front are the next victims. I can't wait.

The photoshoot on Friday was relatively successful. Jaime, the photographer was excellent, as was her fab makeup artist. I'm just glad they both had lots of patience for the kids. I think we got a few good shots, but it's hard to tell yet. I was quite embarassed by TC's behaviour as he couldn't keep his tongue in his mouth for some reason. All he wanted to do was ham it up of course, in his typical non-listening 3-year old style. I did have my special helper, my Mom with me and , man, I don't know how I would have done it without her.

Yesterday was a long overdue visit with my kiddies half-siblings. L finally got her 13th Bday gift from us, a month late. Shocking. I can't believe she's graduating from Grade 7 already! And she got a gorgeous grad dress from Gramma Peggy. And B is over 5-9" tall! Unbelielvable. Oh they grow up so fast!

Finally Finished!

Yay!!
I finally finished the dress that I was working on for the swap I'm supposed to be doing. I hope that my exchange partner hasn't given up on me (*wink!) . I'll be putting it in the mail tomorrow if all goes well.

Things are moving right along with the preparations for both the markets and the photoshoot that I am going to be doing next week.

Sparks is winding down now, only 3 meetings left for the year. How time flies... I have enjoyed my first year as a leader (assistant leader actually) even though it makes for a busy Wednesday. Girl Guides of Canada is a great organization and I am proud to be a member again after a twenty year hiatus. (Yes I was a Brownie & Girl Guide.) This time I am taking it a bit more seriously though.

P.A.C. is voting tonight on positions to be held for next year. (That's Parent Advisory Committee, for those who want to know). I have put my name in for the Secretary position so I'll see how that pans out. The whole thing should be interesting as there are a few parties who seem to enjoy trying to make a political issue out of everything that goes on in school these days. I am not one of those people. I find it hard to work with people like that. Hopefully it won't turn in to a full 3-ring circus. (Wish me luck!)

New (Old) Word....

Friday, May 12, 2006

I haven't had a chance to post a word for the resurrection in quite some time. Now that the Walk-a-thon is all over and done with, here's a new /old word for everyone to contemplate.

Petrescent - adj., Tending to petrify.

When speaking in front of a large croud I tend to be very petrescent.
I just hate crouds. Perhaps some of you might identify with me on this issue.

Days to mark on the calendar

Monday, May 08, 2006

I have my dates set up for one of the farmer's market organization's venues. Check here to see where I am going to be in the near future. Check out all the other vendors who are involved too. I am so excited to be a part of it all.
I am also looking into a few other market events that I might be able to get in on. The summer is certainly going to be a busy one. I have been keeping my eyes peeled for a good sun umbrella that I can use for the venues that is going to serve me well.

There is a little exchange I am working on too - my first swap! Michelle has made a fabulous little mermaid doll for my daughter (she is in love with mermaids!!!) and I am making a dress for her little girl. I am still working on the finishing touches (sorry Michelle!) on the dress though since it is busy around here.

Our annual Walkathon is this Thursday and it's been taking up a lot of my time helping out with fundraising. It's a fun day for the kids and there is mucho dinero raised for the school but I will be glad when Thursday is behind us.

I have also been tipped off to the Harry Potter release date for next year's movie. I am going to be counting the seconds and you can too by checking the counter on the sidebar.
YAY!
